Group of students with staff around yellow tulips

May is Mental Health Awareness Month, and WMS Hope Squad celebrated Hope Week May 1-5. Hope Squad was created to promote peer to peer support and bring awareness to this important topic. In the fall, bulbs were planted for our Yellow Tulip Hope Garden in front of the school. The purpose of this project was to instill hope and happiness. Yellow tulips bring the community together to lose the stigma associated with mental illness.  After a long winter, tulips remind us of perseverance and the renewal of spring. We hope our yellow tulips bring joy and happiness to your day.

Words have power!  A single word has the power to influence parts of the body that regulate physical and emotional stress.  Sharing positive words with yourself and others can literally change lives. To wrap up Hope Week, middle school students were challenged to a scavenger hunt.  There were yellow ducks hidden around the school sharing positive messages and lifesavers. Hope Squad promotes mental health awareness, provides peer support and shares messages of hope because YOU MATTER!
