Why Whitewater?

I am excited to begin the 2017/18 school year teaching Art at WMS.   My family and I sought out teaching in this wonderful town when we were looking at moving closer to our families.  We love the community, outdoor activities, and college town atmosphere Whitewater had to offer.  I have spent the past 10 years teaching Art in Wyoming and now ready for a new adventure in Whitewater.  I look forward to developing positive connections in my classroom, school, and community.
My philosophy I bring into the art room is based on the creative process.  I do not expect everyone to become artists, but all people can benefit from the process of creating ideas, reviewing, generating products, and then reflection of work.  This process will give students training and practice in creative problem solving and help them in this every changing world.
Along with developing creative problem solvers I believe art should be a reflection of the artist.  My goal is to have students creating art that expresses and highlights their lives, interests, and community.
I will use those two concepts along with teaching art techniques and using a variety of different media.  I am excited to begin this journey and learn about  the students, staff, and families of Whitewater.
